The outcomes of a recent study revealed that the Child Cold Symptom Questionnaire (CCSQ) delivers a valid and trustworthy assessment of cold symptoms for use across the 6–11-year age. The lack of authenticated patient-reported outcomes (PRO) instruments measuring cold symptoms, a new pediatric PRO instrument was developed to measure multiple cold symptoms: CCS). The purpose of this research was to assess the measurement properties of the CCSQ. This experimental study involve daily completion of the self-report CCSQ by children aged 6-11 years in their home for 7 days. Around 90% of children shows no missing data throughout the testing period, reflecting an exceptional completion rate. The researchers provide evidence, supporting the validity of the items and multi-items scores for insertion as endpoints in scientific trials to assess the efficacy of cold medicines. The outcomes established that the CCSQ items and multi-item scores provide valid and stead fast patient-reported measures of cold symptoms in children aged 6-11 years.
